Russia Establishes Mandatory Digital Marking for Some Light Industry Products

Earlier, The GMA Consult Group has informed our subscribers about the “Chestny znak” (Fair label) system launched in Russia. It allows consumers to check if goods are original or not as well as find the relevant information on the product including information on the manufacturer, material components, etc. The list of goods that require mandatory registration in the “Chestny znak” system continues to grow.


So, the marking rules for these types of products become mandatory from January 1, 2021. This means that circulation of non-marked products will be forbidden from this date. January 1, 2021.

So, the marking rules for these types of products become mandatory from January 1, 2021. This means that the circulation of non-marked products will be forbidden from this date.


By February 1, 2021, the leftover stock produced or acquired before January 1, 2021 must be marked.


We kindly remind you that the sale of the goods without the identification marking as well as the storage, transportation or acquisition of such goods for further sale are subject to administrative fines - for legal entities (companies) from 50 000 RUB to 300 000 RUB with the forfeiture of the respective goods.
