Use of Energy Efficiency Label for Household Tumble Dryers in Ukraine

Household tumble dryers of domestic and foreign production including those intended for professional use (elecric drying machines, gas drying machines or built-in drying machines) are subject to the Ukrainian Technical Regulations on Energy Labeling of Drying Machines. This TR is identical to Commission Regulation (EU) №392/2012 of March 1, 2012 supplementing Directive 2010/30/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Energy Labeling of Household Tumble Driers. The technical regulations came into force on March 15, 2018, according to the Ukrainian Decree №380 of May 31, 2017 "On Approval of the Technical Regulations on Energy Labeling of Household Tumble Driers".

This Technical Regulation does not apply to:

  • household combined washing and drying machines  
  • household spinning centrifuges

There are requirements for the EE label, microfiche and technical documentation, manufacturer's EE test report, and EE class calculation.

Rules and conditions of application

The EE label indicates the following information:

  1. name or trademark of the tumble drier supplier
  2. model identifier of the tumble drier, which consists of letters and numbers. It distinguishes a specific model of the tumble drier from other models of the same trademark or the same supplier;
  3. energy efficiency class of the tumble drier determined in accordance with the Technical Regulation on Energy Labeling of Household Tumble Driers. A letter, which means an energy efficiency class, is placed at the same level as the corresponding arrow
  4. average annual energy consumption of the tumble drier determined in accordance with the Technical Regulation on Energy Labeling of Household Tumble Driers, kWh per year
  5. type of the tumble drier
  6. time corresponding to a standard cotton drying program at the full load, minutes (rounded to the closest minute)
  7. average loading for a standard cotton drying program at the full load, kilograms
  8. noise level (average) during the drying phase for a standard cotton program at the full load, dB (rounded to the closest integer)

Blue, purple, yellow, and black colours are used on a white background for the energy label. The color of any element of the energy label is formed by combining these colors in the percentage of each of them. To designate the element's color, a combination of four characters (digits) is used which indicate the percentage composition of colours in the following sequence: blue, purple, yellow, black. For example, designation of the color of the element of the energy label "00-70-X-00" indicates that it consists of 0 percent blue, 70 purple, 100 yellow and 0 percent black.

The energy label should be at least 110x220 millimeters. If the energy label is printed in a larger format, its size should be increased proportionately.

The energy label for a vented tumble dryer is made according to the following scheme:

The energy label for condenser tumble dryers is made according to the following scheme:

  • Average annual energy consumption 
  • Type of the tumble drier
  • Run cycle time

  • Place to indicate the name or trademark of the supplier and the model of the tumble dryer of 92 x 15 millimeters  
  • Class of condensation efficiency  
  • № and date of the regulatory act approved by the Technical Regulation on Energy Labeling of Household Tumble Driers 

The energy label for gas tumble dryers is made according to the following scheme:
