Saudi Arabia Updates Requirements for Some Types of Audio/Video and IT Equipment

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) issued a circular to the conformity assessment bodies (CBs) accepted by SASO.

In this circular SASO reminds that according to the decision No. 018 dated 21/01/1445 AH, which includes the approval of updating standard specifications (SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2017, SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2017) and unifying the types of ports for smartphone chargers and electronic devices, it is necessary for all involved parties to take into consideration the requirements of the updated standard and implement them according to the SASO IEC 62680-1-2, SASO IEC 62680-1-3 standards.

To show the compliance with the new requirements, importers should apply for the renewal of their valid certificates to get the confirmation of compliance with the SASO IEC 62680-1-2, SASO IEC 62680-1-3 standards. When applying for the SABER certificate for the first time, importers should include materials in the technical file that show the compliance with the above-mentioned standards to obtain the certificate.

SASO notifies CBs on the necessity to provide lists of valid conformity certificates that have not been modified correspondingly up to October 1, 2024.
Additionally, SASO will randomly select files through the Saber platform to verify compliance with the indicated requirements starting from August 1, 2024.

Please, note that products/certificates with the following HS codes are subject to review:
