Some categories of electrical devices should have already met the RoHS requirements to get access to the KSA market. Earlier Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization SASO informed that new technical regulation requirements on Restriction of hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) become live in the KSA starting from July 2022. Small household appliances became the first product category that required conformity assessment against RoHS in the KSA.
It is planned that by the end of 2022 two more categories of electrical and electronic product should meet RoHS requirements to get access to the KSA market:
- Large household appliances
- Information and communication technology equipment
The conformance of devices to the RoHS requirements should be carried out through the relevant KSA or GULF standards in case of absence of such standards, the international one must be implemented. Additionally, the manufacturer should provide a technical file to the device as well as evidence that his company has an effective quality management system.
