Saudi Arabia Implements New Season Energy Efficiency Ratio Labels for Air Conditioners

The GMA Consult Group kindly reminds our subscribers about implementation of a new Season Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) label for air conditioners in Saudi Arabia The label comes into force according to the national Saudi Standard SASO 2663/2021.

Thus, existing valid P-CoCs and Shipment Certificates of Conformity issued for air conditioners based on SASO 2663/2018 version will be terminated by March 31, 2022. Starting from April 1, 2022 the new version of standard will be mandatory for local manufacturers and for border crossing.

A new SEER label must be placed on the devices marketed in the KSA starting from July 1, 2022.

Please, be aware that requests on upgrading applications from EER to SEER label will be no longer accepted from April 1. It means that all air conditioners with inverter types will be treated as fixed-speed and the SEER label will be received on the lower energy efficiency class. Moreover, it will not be allowed to request new registrations with the same model-number for such conditioners.

New labels shall be applied to products at local production lines and shipments through Saudi customs and looks like this:

The label contains new additional parameters:

  • Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) classification
  • Rated Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) value (Btu/W.h)
