New Zealand Recognizes Some Australian Provisions with Regard to High Risk Products

WorkSafe New Zealand notified the recognition of Australian Legislation in Respect of Approval of Declared Articles Notice 2022 and issued the relevant document that became effective on August 8, 2022

Thus, WorkSafe New Zealand accepts the approval scheme with regard to declared high risk articles. According to the Notice, the declared high risk article must have a certificate of approval that should be supported by a test report. Additionally, this test report must be not older than 5 years at the approval time.

Please note, the certificate is granted only for the certain item and cannot be issued to several devices.

Please, note that the certificate as well as supporting test reports to a residual current device (RCD) should have an identification of RCD type and confirmation of compliance with requirements of AS/NZS 3190.

If one decides to supply declared high risk articles to New Zealand, he/she should remember to have an available copy of certificate and all relevant documents and provide them to WorkSafe within 10 days after the request. If WorkSafe finds any nonconformities, it has the right to vary or withdraw the certificate.
