The Mexican Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has taken a significant step towards faster and more efficient wireless communication by issuing an Agreement that grants full access to the 5925-6425 MHz frequency band for WAS/RLAN systems. This move classifies the frequency band as free spectrum, opening up opportunities for improved connectivity across the country.
As part of the Agreement, IFT has specified the technical operating conditions for systems that operate under the free spectrum modality, particularly low power and very low power systems. To ensure optimal performance, the technical operating conditions for low power WAS/RLAN systems must meet specific requirements. These include:
Moreover, to ensure compliance and optimal performance, low power WAS/RLAN systems that operate in the 5925-6425 MHz frequency band under the free spectrum modality must adhere to the following conditions:
Furthermore, very low power WAS/RLAN systems that operate must follow the technical operating conditions outlined below to ensure that they comply with regulations:
In addition, very low power WAS/RLAN systems operating in the 5925-6425 MHz frequency band under the free spectrum modality must adhere to the following condition:
The Agreement, which outlines these technical operating conditions, was officially published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on March 7, 2023, and became mandatory from March 8, 2023.
