Jordan Modifies Type Approval Rules

The Telecommunications Regulation Commission (TRC) of Jordan revised the type approval regulation, which became effective on September 15, 2024.

According to the revised regulation, approved products must contain the following information:

  • Manufacturer name
  • Brand name
  • Model
  • Marketing name
  • IMEI for devices with a cellular module

All this information should be indicated on the product label. The label may be placed either physically and/or electronically in one of the following areas:

  • On the product itself
  • On the outer packaging
  • In the user manual
  • In the device's operating system

However, there is a list of products that are exempted from the regulation, namely:

  • Printers
  • Copiers
  • Monitors
  • Desktop computers
  • Wired cameras without high-power radio functionality
  • Wireless cameras without high-power radio functionality
  • Short-Range Devices that only support Bluetooth technology
  • Satellite television receivers
  • Wired phones without a radio communications module

Please note, the duration of certificates has also changed. Before the revised regulation, the certificate was valid for 3 years. Now, the validity period has been reduced to 1 year.

The information has been prepared by the GMA Consult Group team.
