In India, all telecom and related information and communications technology equipment is subject to Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) procedure led by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India. The MTCTE procedure has been launched from July 2019 and includes simplified certification scheme (SCS) and general certification scheme (GCS). Step by step, the TEC is adding new categories of products that require the MTCTE procedure. These steps are known as phases. The TEC has recently notified implementation of new phases. Thus, the following categories of product under phases III and IV should pass the MTCTE procedure through the GCS:

Please, note that certification of products under Phase III becomes mandatory from July 1st, 2022. However, applications for the MTCE procedure can be submitted starting from October 11, 2021.
Certification of products under Phase IV with respect to EMI/EMC and safety requirements becomes mandatory from February 1, 2022 and the other essential requirements must be verified with the certificate from July 1st, 2022. That is why the application procedure within Phase IV is divided into to periods:
