The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) issued KC 62368-1 standard “Audio / Video and Information and Communication Technology Equipment Part 1 Safety Requirements” following the IEC given direction.  

KC 62368-1 will replace three national standards:

• KC 60065 “Safety of audio / video equipment and similar electrical equipment”
• KC 60950-1 “Information technology equipment - Safety Part 1 General requirements”
• KC 60950-22  “Information Technology Equipment - Safety Part 22 Outdoor Installation Equipment”.

However, the implementation of KC 60065, KC 60950-1, and KC 60950-22 standard requirements will be possible until December 31, 2022. 

KATS clarified that certificates of conformity issued before January 1, 2023 should not be revised. However, if the certified product has been modified somehow, it will be necessary to apply for the revision of the certificate. In this case, the applicable standard will be updated to the latest standard.

In addition, starting from January 2023 your product has to meet the requirements of KC 62368-1 standard to get a new certificate and sell audio/video and information and communication technology equipment on the Korean market.
