Brazil Releases Requirements for 5G Base Station Testing

National Telecommunication Agency of Brazil (ANATEL) published Act №9435 on October 26, 2021. The Act updates Act №3153 on technical requirements for conformity assessment procedure of transceiver for radio base station. ANATEL adds requirements with regard to Radio Frequency (RF) test methods and conformance requirements for NR and NBIoT operation in NR in-band Base Station (BS).

Thus, ANATEL adds the following standards for application:

  • ETSI TS 138 141-1 V16.6.0 (2021-01) - 5G; NR; Base Station (BS) conformance testing Part 1: Conducted conformance testing (3GPP TS 38.141-1 version 16.6.0 Release 16);
  • ETSI TS 138 141-2 V16.6.0 (2021-01) - 5G; NR; Base Station (BS) conformance testing Part 2: Radiated conformance testing (3GPP TS 38.141-2 version 16.6.0 Release 16);
  • ETSI TS 137 141 V16.8.0 (2021-01) - Digital cellular telecommunications system (Phase 2+) (GSM); Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS); LTE; 5G; NR, E-UTRA, UTRA and GSM/EDGE; Multi-Standard Radio (MSR) Base Station (BS) conformance testing (3GPP TS 37.141 version 16.8.0 Release 16);


Moreover, ANATEL included requirements to Radio Base Stations of types 1-C and 1-H and deleted requirements to Effective (or Equivalent) Isotropic Radiated Power and Total Radiated Power of 5G NR.
