Georgia Issues New Regulations for Household Dryers

The Government of Georgia has approved the technical regulation "Rules for energy labeling of tumble dryers". The technical regulation establishes requirements for labeling and providing additional product information for electric, gas household, and built-in tumble dryers, including those sold for non-domestic use.

The technical regulation does not apply to combined household washer-dryers and household washing machines.

The household ventilated tumble dryer label

The following information must be provided on the label of a household ventilated tumble dryer:

I. The name or trademark of the supplier
II. The supplier's model identifier, which is a code (usually consisting of letters and numbers) distinguishing a specific model from other models of the same brand or supplier
III. The energy efficiency class
IV. The annual energy consumption (AEC) in kWh/year
V. The type of household tumble dryer
VI. The cycle time corresponding to the standard cotton program with a full load, in minutes
VII. The estimated load capacity in kilograms for the standard cotton program with a full load
VIII. The sound power level (weighted average - LWA) during the drying phase for the standard cotton program with a full load, in dB

The household condenser tumble dryer label

In addition to the information specified for a household ventilated dryer, the label of a household condenser tumble dryer must have symbol IX - condensation efficiency class.

The label for household tumble dryer operating on natural gas

The information is the same as on the label for household ventilated tumble dryer

Label Dimensions

Labels must be at least 110 mm wide and 220 mm high. When the label is printed in a larger format, its content must remain proportional to the characteristics specified above.

Supplier Obligations

The supplier must provide each domestic tumble dryer with:

  • a printed label
  • a product information table in Georgian
  • a technical documentation file
  • an indication of the energy efficiency class
  • an advertising brochure with technical characteristics

The technical documentation file must contain the following information:

  • the name and address of the supplier
  • a general description of the domestic tumble dryer model
  • a reference to the used standards published by the Georgian National Agency for Standardization and Metrology (if any)
  • an indication of other applicable technical standards and conditions (if any)
  • identification data and signature of the authorized person of the supplier
  • technical parameters necessary for calculations
  • if the information contained in the technical documentation on a specific model of a household tumble dryer is obtained as a result of a calculation based on the design or extrapolation of another equivalent household tumble dryer, the documentation must include the details of such calculation or extrapolation, and test reports

The energy efficiency class of a household tumble dryer is determined by its Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) in accordance with the table:

The technical regulation will enter into force on December 31, 2025.

From December 31, 2025, each model of household tumble dryer should be placed on the market with the new model identifier and will be supplied to the dealer with an electronic label, as shown in the figures above and the product information table.
