Eurasian Economic Commission Simplifies Requirements for Knitted or Crocheted Fabrics

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) adopted the Decision “On establishing the rates for import customs duties of the Unified Customs Tariff of the Eurasian Economic Union for certain types of knitted or crocheted fabrics”

According to this Decision, the customs duty for items with the EAEU HS Code 6002 40 000 0, namely: Knitted or crocheted fabrics of a width not exceeding 30 cm, containing by weight 5 % or more of elastomeric yarn but not containing rubber thread, is reduced up to 0%. This measure is applied on a temporary basis.

This decision was made in order to establish the production of corsetry products on the territory of the EAEU. At the moment, the EAEU does not produce the textile fabric with such characteristics. It is planned that such fabrics will be produced in Russia in the future. In this regard, during the zero-duty period, interested producers and consumers have the opportunity to agree upon technological requirements for the textile fabrics and prototypes testing. All of these will enter production of the textile fabrics in the EAEU.

It should be noted that the Decision was officially published on May 17, 2021 and is effective from May 27, 2021 to December 31, 2021
