Ecuador Updates Technical Regulations on Domestic Refrigeration Appliances

On January 24, 2019, the Ecuadorian Standardisation Service (INEN) issued the following Resolutions:


  • Resolution № 19039 to withdraw the First Revision to the Technical Regulation RTE INEN 009 on domestic refrigeration appliances (approved by the Resolution № 18084 of 2018)
  • Resolution № 19040 to withdraw the First Revision to the Technical Regulation RTE INEN 035 on energy efficiency labelling for domestic refrigeration equipment (approved by the Resolution № 18065 of 2018)


The withdrawals came into force immediately.  Now household refrigeration appliances are subject to the requirements of initial versions of the following Technical Regulations:


  • RTE INEN 009 approved by the Resolution № 05879 of 2005
  • RTE INEN 035 on energy efficiency labelling approved by the Resolution № 118 of 2008
