The Chinese State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has recently issued new regulations concerning mobile power sources. These regulations apply to various types of power sources, including:
According to SAMR, manufacturers can apply for the Compulsory Certificate (CCC) starting from August 1, 2023. However, the mandatory application will only be enforced from August 2024 onwards. Consequently, after this date, selling mobile power sources in the Chinese market without a CCC certificate will be prohibited.
To obtain certification, manufacturers must follow the relevant standards outlined in the "Implementation Rules for Product Certification of IT Equipment." It is important to note that safety technical requirements for lithium-ion batteries and battery packs used in portable electronic products are specified in the Chinese national standard GB 31241-2022, which will come into effect in January 2024. As for batteries applicable to other types of electronic and electrical products, CCC certificates will only be required once the relevant requirements are implemented.
