The Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water (DCCEEW) in Australia issued new Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Determination 2024 for dishwashers. The standard becomes effective from October 5, 2025. It replaces Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Dishwashers) Determination 2015.

The standard focuses also on such performance criteria as rated capacity, washing index and drying index that allows to ascertain the quality and conformance to the requirements of the supplied product.
