China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has recently launched an online public service platform. This platform is aimed to show consumers that hazardous substances in products meet the relevant standards requirements as well as requirements stated in the Administrative Measures for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products.
The platform is based on the Conformity Assessment System for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (EEPs). This platform concerns suppliers of the EEPs listed in Compliance Management Catalogue for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in EEPs and contains 12 categories of products:
Starting from November 1, 2019 it is necessary to confirm the compliance of the above-mentioned categories of products through self-declaration or voluntary certification procedures.
There are two submission systems on the platform, one is for suppliers who want to use the self-declaration procedure and another is for the third-party certification bodies to put certification results if voluntary certification has been requested.
Thus, if we talk about voluntary certification, the assessment results should be submitted on the platform by a certification body within 5 working days after the certificate issuing.
Regarding the self-declaration procedure, the declaration itself and accompanying documents must be submitted on the platform within 30 days after the product is put on the market.
When the required information is submitted, MIIT and State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) check it and publish the conformity assessment results on this public service platform. That allows to find information of over 1000 products through this platform.
The platform is available via the link.
