Australia and New Zealand Adopt New Safety Requirements for Audio, Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment

The Australian/New Zealand joint technical committee prepared a new national standard AS/NZS 62368.1:2022 Audio/video, information, and communication technology equipment, Part 1: Safety requirements. It was published at the end of June 2022. The standard was developed on top of IEC 62368-1:2018 (ED. 3.0). However, it has national modification and cannot be treated as identical to IEC 62368-1.

AS/NZS 62368.1:2022 applies to audio, video, information, and communication technology, and business and office machines with a rated voltage not exceeding 600V and related to their safety only.

This national standard was created to adopt IEC 62368-1:2018 (ED. 3.0) and to set installation safeguard requirements of a fixing points and restraining device as well as instructions for their use. In addition, the standard includes Annex ZZ that contains a list of modifications added to reflect national differences.

AS/NZS 62368.1:2022 will terminate the validity of AS/NZS 62368.1:2018 on June 24, 2025.

Please, note that within this period it is possible to use both versions of certificates of compliance, the new and the old one. There is no need to renew the certificate if it was issued against requirements of AS/NZS 62368.1:2018.
