Vietnam Releases New Technical Regulation For Short-Range Devises Operating on 40-246 GHz Frequency Range

The Ministry of Information and Communications of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (MIC) issued a new Circular 10/2021/TT-BTTTT on October 28, 2021. According to the document, MIC promulgates National technical regulation 123:2021/BTTTT on Short-Range Devices (SRD) - Radio equipment to be used on the 40 to 246 GHz frequency range. 

This Regulation touches general types of short-range radio transmitting and receiving (SRD) devices, including radio warning equipment, radio remote control equipment, telemetry equipment operating on the frequency range 40-246 GHz.

SRDs can:

  • have a radio output connection with a separate antenna or with an integrated antenna
  • use any type of modulation
  • be fixed equipment, mobile devices, and handheld devices


Operating band for the SRD is specified below:


This regulation is applicable to Vietnamese and foreign organizations and individuals that have production and business activities of equipment covered by this regulation in the country.

This Regulation specifies:

  • the RF output power limit in the broad band operation mode can not exceed the following:

  • Spurious emission limits:

  • Unwanted radiated power:

    - shall not exceed 2 nW (-57 dBm) on the frequency range 30 MHz-1 GHz
    - shall not exceed 20 nW (-47 dBm 1 MHz reference measurement bandwidth) on the frequency range above 1 GHz.
    - the measured unwanted emissions shall be recorded in the test results.


Please, note that if the equipment can be operated in different modes and on different frequency bands the applicant should declare these frequencies for each mode and frequency band.


The Regulation will enter in force from July 1, 2022
