United Kingdom Informs on Extension of Time for Implementation of UKCA Mark

The UK government announced an extension of the transition period with regard to the UK Conformity Assessed marking (“UKCA”) on November 24, 2022. Thus, it will be possible based on the documents issued by the EU-recognised Conformity Assessment Bodies to show the compliance of the UKCA requirements until 11 pm on 31 December 2024. After this date, new product types will require conformity assessment procedures carried out by a UK Approved Body.

Please, note that in the following cases, there is no need to remark or recertify a product with the UKCA requirements after 31 December 2024

  • The CE marked product has been put to the UK market before the above-mentioned date
  • The product has been certified under the EU legislation before this date

Manufacturers can use CE certificates as the base for UKCA marking for their products until the expiration date of the certificate or until 31 December 2027, whichever comes first.

Although the CE-marked products can be put on the market of the United Kindgom, the UK government still recommends manufacturers when showing compliance with UKCA requirements to include in the UK Declaration of Conformity the list of relevant UK designated standards and equivalent EU harmonized standards applicable to their products.
