In Turkey, there is a Risk-Based Trade Control System (TAREKS). The TAREKS was launched by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey in 2010. The System was developed to check the safety and quality of imported products. The procedures and principles connected to the supervision of products’ safety are regulated with the Communiqués. Communiqués of Product Safety and Inspection have been published by the Ministry of Trade and introduce rules and regulations of certain products to the applicable laws. They regulate the importers’ responsibilities with regards to product safety in terms of human life and health, protection of property and environmental safety. These Communiqués are reviewed annually.
