Thailand Сhanges Type Approval Process for Cellular Devices

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand announced and informed about the change in the type approval process for cellular devices. The decision is based on the technical standard NBTC TS 1027-2560 for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) using technology Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) (Technical standard for LTE equipment).

Key points are:

1. This requirement is effective upon the verbal announcement

2. LTE LAA/eLAA Band 46 will be opened and the NBTC requires to submit test reports for Band 46 for all WWAN products.

3. For the test reports, the NBTC also defined related test standards:

For LAA Band 46 (receiver only): ETSI TS 136 101 (3GPP TS 36.101) version 13.2.0 or later.

For eLAA Band 46 (transmitters and receivers): ETSI TS 136 101 (3GPP TS 36.101) version 14.4.0 or later.
