Singapore Updates Safety Standards for Controlled Goods

In Singapore, household electrical, electronic, and gas appliances and accessories must meet the requirements of the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR). According to the CPSR, there are 33 categories of household electrical, electronic, and gas appliances and accessories. They are divided into three groups: 

  • Low Risk Controlled Goods
  • Medium Risk Controlled Goods
  • High Risk Controlled Goods


All Controlled Goods must pass a conformity assessment procedure against specific safety standards.

Recently, the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) has informed on the changes in safety standards for the High Risk Controlled Goods that are to become effective from July 13, 2022.

The following standards must be applied to High Risk Controlled Goods from July 2022: 


Please, note that if the above-mentioned products was tested according to the older edition of the standard than indicated in the table above, such test reports can not be accepted for new registrations or renewal of existing registrations.
