New National Frequency Plan Becomes Available in Morocco

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) issued the Governmental decision 3-70-21 with updates for the National Frequency Plan (NFP). The NFP is a reference document which specifies corresponding radiocommunication services for each frequency band authorized at the national level.

It presents a way to give sufficient visibility to all frequency users (current and potential) and to guide their choices in terms of frequency bands to be used.

For each frequency band, the Plan indicates services which are authorized in Morocco with the technical conditions of their operation. The NFP also takes into account ITU recommendations.

In the annex, the National Frequencies Plan specifies national references, which give more information on the technical criteria for operating a frequency band by the same service in Morocco.

This current revision of the NFP is based on the relevant decisions contained in the final acts of the 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) and consists of three chapters:

  • Chapter 1 contains the table of national (and international) frequency allocations where:

    - References from the Radio Regulations have the form of "5.XXX"
    - National references describing a national feature or specification indicated as  "MRC YYY"
  • Chapter 2 includes definitions related to the management of the frequency spectrum, in particular the definitions of radiocommunication services and stations and terms used in the Plan
  • Chapter 3 contains the frequency channels relating to the maritime mobile service.

Thus, when using frequencies, one must be sure that they correspond to the NFP.

Please, note that frequencies used for radio installations made up of low power and low range devices and which are governed by the relevant decisions of the Director General of the ANRT are not subject to these requirements.
