Morocco Updates Requirements to Products Under Control

The Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy of Morocco informs about the update in the list of Moroccan standards. The list includes standards that are mandatory for implementation and concerns the imported industrial product such as:

  • Automotive spare parts such as tires, batteries, brake linings, glazing, filter elements, mechanical control cables, leaf springs, and inner tubes
  • Construction products such as ceramic tiles, cement, waterproofing sheets, sanitary products, fittings, and plastic pipes
  • Wooden panels
  • Gas appliances such as gas heaters, gas water heaters
  • Wire rod and rebar
  • Articles of clothing other than work clothes
  • Footwear
  • Electrical products: chargers for cell phones, circuit breakers
  • Blankets, rugs, carpets, and upholstery
  • Baby diapers

These categories of products are subject to the essential safety requirements as defined in the applicable technical regulations and should be controlled at Moroccan customs from February 1, 2021.

The other industrial products are subject to import control before shipment to Morocco. It means that these products must have a certificate of conformity while importing to Morocco.

Thus, the list contains 25 new versions of Moroccan standards that have become effective from March 17, 2021 and 40 standards that will be mandatory from June 17, 2021.

The list itself you can find here.
