On December 26, 2023, the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) of Mexico issued the Guidelines for the use of the IFT label, a significant update for manufacturers and distributors within the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors.
The IFT's Homologation Guidelines establish the necessary procedures and provisions for the homologation of telecommunications or broadcasting products. These include any equipment or devices that can be connected to a telecommunications network or use the radio spectrum. A notable feature of the guidelines is the introduction of the IFT label, a graphic element designed for easy identification on approved products.
Thus, it is possible to put the mark only after obtaining a valid Certificate of Homologation for the product. Otherwise, it is forbidden to use the IFT mark.
Manufacturers and distributors are granted a 180 business day transition period to comply starting from the publication date of the guidelines in the Official Gazette. Products approved before the guidelines' effective date or those already in the homologation process are exempt from marking with the IFT label.
