SIRIM QAS International of Malaysia cleared up the point regarding marketing names of certified products. The product marketing name should be indicated in the type approval application to allow for verification of the certificate status via Check Your Label (CYL) Mobile Application to the interested parties.
That is why, applicants that submit for type approval procedure should be sure that the marketing name is indicated in the application form and is available on the product itself. However, the certification body presumes the absence of the marketing name, in this case the applicant should indicate the specific model name of the product.
SIRIM points out that if information on the product is confidential, the certificate holders can request not to publicize this information in the e-ComM system until the product is marketed.
Moreover, it is noted that in case the product is already certified and the certificates of conformity doesn’t contain information on the marketing name, it can be additionally added upon request.
In addition, if a product can be marketed under different marketing names, the applicant may submit several marketing names. In this case, the product must meet additional specific requirements.
