Investigation of New EMC Requirements in Azerbaijan

Dear partners and colleagues,

Recently, we noticed several announcements about the new EMC requirements in Azerbaijan. According to these announcements, the AZS certificate will no longer cover both safety and EMC requirements, and the EMC directives should be approved via separate procedure, providing that the EMC certificate can only be registered by an accreditation body certified in this field.

In order to check credibility of the sources and confirm whether the new requirement is truly valid, our team conducted an investigation of this issue.

GMA Consult Group is present on the market of Azerbaijan for many years and has a network of trusted partners including close contacts with local certification bodies and authorities. We requested relevant official documents that would confirm the new requirement coming into force and consulted with partner certification bodies and the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan Republic. The information about separate EMC requirements was not confirmed.

Conformity assessment of telecommunication equipment and radio-electronic devices in Azerbaijan is regulated by the Resolution No175 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated by August 21, 1998, and the Regulation on the National certification system of the Republic of Azerbaijan, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No343 dated by July 1, 1993. No changes have been made to the Resolutions or any other legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan related to the conformity assessment procedures recently. Thus, importers/exporters willing to sell goods in Azerbaijan have to apply only for one National AZS Certificate of Conformity, which confirms all the relevant requirements applicable to the specific product (including electrical safety and EMС), as before.

We assume that certain service providers may spread fake information for unfair competition. Be aware and always check original sources.

The information has been prepared by the GMA Consult Group team. GMA Consult Group provides a full cycle of international type approval and global market access services for IT, Telecom, and industrial electrical products in all countries throughout the world. With proven expertise in worldwide regulations, compliance, certification, and conformity assessment, GMA Consult Group can help your company speed up the access to any market with almost zero efforts from your side.
