India Presents New Testing and Certification Procedures for Telecommunication Equipment
In April 2024, Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India presented the ‘Procedure for Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE)’ version 3.0. This document supersedes TEC 93009:2021.
Key changes in the TEC 93009:
The validity of the Regular MTCTE Certificate was increased from 5 to 10 years
MTCTE labelling requirements were revised
Lists of equipment under Simplified Certification Scheme (SCS) of MTCTE and under General Certification Scheme (GCS) of MTCTE in Annex A were updated
Associated models and family definition for Optical Fibre Cable under MTCTE were updated
The SCS scheme for uploading of test reports was modified
A valid BIS certificate or Safety test report from BIS-recognized lab(s) issued against the Safety test standard(s) as mentioned in the applicable ERs is now acceptable
Source Approval Certificate (SAC) has become acceptable under MTCTE
TEC provides clarification regarding End of Life/ End of Sale for whole unit warranty replacement products under MTCTE
Test reports of CAB designated for Generic Requirements (GR)/ Interface Requirements (IR) for the parameters of ER are now acceptable under MTCTE
The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) mandate for witness testing by Regional Telecom Engineering Centres (RTEC) is now not required
Added notification on certification against Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSARS)
Part codes of lower configuration cards were added
Test scenarios in case of Split Unit Type models were given
A fresh application for more than 9 associated models was provided
The MTCTE Flowchart for ER based Fresh Application was updated
Clauses related to Temporary Certificates were removed
