India Kicks off Requirements to Telecom Equipment Under MTCTE Phase II

Earlier in June, GMA Consult Group informed our subscribers about the launch of Phase II of the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments (MTCTE) in India. The following equipment falls under the MTCTE within Phase II:

  • Transmission terminal equipment (SDH Equipment, Multiplexing Equipment)
  • PON family of Broadband Equipment (PON ONT, PON ONU and PON OLT)
  • Feedback Devices

It is possible to apply for certification for the products under MTCTE Phase II starting from June 25, 2020, however the binding effect on the Testing and Certification procedure of the device was postponed for a couple of months.

Today, we would like to remind you that products under Phase II of the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments will require mandatory approval from October 1, 2020.

So starting from this date it is necessary to get the TEC certificates for the above-mentioned equipment prior to selling, importing or using them in India.

Please, note that TEC certificates can be issued only based on test results issued by Indian Accredited labs.

The information has been prepared by the GMA Consult Group team.
