India Establishes Three Footwear Quality Control Orders

India Establishes Three Footwear Quality Control Orders

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India established three quality control Orders with regard to footwear and amendments to them:

  • Footwear made from Leather and other materials Order
  • Footwear made from all-Rubber and all Polymeric material and its components Order
  • Personal Protective Equipment Footwear Order

According to these Orders, the Bureau of Indian Standards is authorized to certify a specific range of footwear and grant the Standard Mark to such products. The Standard Mark is mandatory and shows the compliance of a product to the corresponding Indian Standard.

Thus, the Footwear made from Leather and other materials (Quality Control) Order applies to the following products:

The Footwear made from all-Rubber and all Polymeric material and its components Order applies to the following products:

The Personal Protective Equipment Footwear Order applies to the following products:

All these Orders become effective from July 1, 2021.
