The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) of Hong Kong introduced a revised Performance Specification for Radiocommunications Apparatus Operating in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Band and Employing Frequency Hopping or Digital Modulation. This is the 7th revision of the HKCA 1039 Performance Specification, which appeared in August 2024.
The specification defines the minimum performance requirements for radiocommunications devices operating in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band and applies to both portable units and base units of the device.
The key changes concern both general and technical requirements, which you can find below:
Revision in general requirements concerning the removal of electrical safety requirements and amending “type number” item, which requires cordless telephones to have the brand name and unique type number clearly indicated on the casing of the portable unit and the base unit.
Additionally, the manufacturer who first submits the use of a type number will have the priority to use that type number.
Regarding technical requirements, OFCA added information on the use of 5 GHz inside the road vehicles:
