Energy Efficiency Labeling for Vacuum Cleaners in Ukraine

Vacuum cleaners powered by electricity, hybrid vacuum cleaners, and vacuum cleaners with water filters are subject to the Ukrainian Technical Regulations on Energy Labeling of Vacuum Cleaners. The TR is identical to Commission Regulation (EU) №665/2013 of 3 May 2013 supplementing Directive 2010/30/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on Energy Labeling of Vacuum Cleaners. According to the Ukrainian Decree №381 of 31.05.2017 "On approval of the Technical Regulations on Energy Labeling of Vacuum Cleaners", the Technical Regulations have come into force starting from March 15, 2018.

These Technical Regulations do not apply to:

  • vacuum cleaners for wet cleaning, vacuum cleaners for wet and dry cleaning, vacuum cleaners powered by batteries, vacuum cleaners robots, industrial or stationary vacuum cleaners  
  • floor polishers  
  • vacuum cleaners for outdoor work

There are requirements to the EE label and microfiche, manufacturer's EE test report, and EE class calculation.

Rules and conditions of application

The following sign confirms compliance with the Technical Regulations:

The EE label indicates the following information:

- name or trademark of a vacuum cleaner supplier

- model of the vacuum cleaner (consisting of letters and numbers and distinguishes a specific model of the vacuum cleaner from other models of the same brand of the vacuum cleaner or the same supplier)

- energy efficiency class of the vacuum cleaner. The letter is meaning energy efficiency class and placed at the same level as the corresponding arrow

- average annual amount of energy consumption of the vacuum cleaner,  kWh per year

- dust re-emission class determined in accordance with the Technical Regulations

- efficiency of carpet cleaning determined in accordance with  the Technical Regulations

- efficiency of solid floor cleaning determined in accordance with the Technical Regulations

- noise level determined in accordance with the Technical Regulation, dBA.

The energy label is made according to the following scheme:

for a hard floor vacuum cleaner / for a vacuum cleaner for a carpet covering
