Colombia Withdraws Homologation for Fixed Terminal and Satellite Equipment

The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) of Colombia issued the Resolution 5586 that helps to simplify regulatory rules for wireless and telecom equipment.

Currently, the homologation procedure for fixed terminal equipment (such as cable and wireless telephones) and satellite equipment (telephones that allow communication through a link with a satellite for industrial or security usage) is no longer required.

CRC considered not to require the approval as the operating conditions and safety of the equipment are proved by the international conformity bodies.

It worth mentioning that the homologation procedure is not required only for fixed and satellite terminal equipment. For mobile (cellular) equipment, the procedure is still valid.
