Chile Revises Technical Regulation for Short-Range Devices

Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) of Chile took a decision to revise Resolution 1985 on technical regulation for Short-Range Devices (SRDs) and issued Resolution 2844 that modified technical regulation for SRDs. The document became effective from September 14, 2022. By the Resolution 2844 SUBTEL revises Wi-Fi 6 frequency bands and certification requirements provision.

Thus, the following provisions have been changed:

In Article 1 “radio devices that require only certification for their use in the country”

  • from subarticle h “radio devices intended for medical use” the frequency band of 2400–2483.5 MHz and the field strength value of 50 mV/m at 3 meters were removed
  • now equipment from subarticle h can also be subject to requirements from subarticle j.1
  • in subarticle i for vehicle radar systems operating in the 77 to 81 GHz the maximum equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) of 50 dBm is set
  • in subarticle j.1 the 5925–7125 MHz frequency band was replaced to the 5925–6425 MHz band

It is said in the Resolution that even though applications were sent to SUBTEL prior to the publication date of the Resolution, they still should reflect current modifications if required and must be redone respectively.
