Brazil Updates Technical Requirements for Restricted Radiocommunication Equipment

On March 1, 2019, the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) adopted Act № 1379 that amended Technical Requirements for Conformity Assessment of Restricted Radiocommunication Equipment. The Act entered into force on March 1, 2019.

The Act changes the provisions regulating the technical requirements for periodic transmission devices.

In particular, section 6.2.5 of Act № 1379 establishes that periodic transmissions at predetermined regular intervals are allowed only in supervisory or scan transmissions to determine the systematic integrity of transmitters used in safety applications. In this case, the periodic transmission rate shall not exceed 2 seconds per hour, instead of the original 1 second per hour, for each transmitter.

Furthermore, Table V of Section 13.1 of foregoing Act is amended to include new limit values for the Radio Frequency Identification Systems (RFID) operating in the bands:

119 – 135 kHz

13.11 – 13.36 MHz

13.41 – 14.01 MHz

433.5 – 434.5 MHz

860 – 869 MHz

894-898.5 MHz

902-907.5 MHz

915-928 MHz

2,400 – 2,483.5 MHz

5,725 – 5,850 MHz

The new limits set in Table V are mentioned in the document below.

Section 13.1.1 of the foregoing Act is also amended to specify that in the transition frequency bands more restricted field strength value should apply.
